Are you passionate about supporting women and gender diverse people to access contraception, abortion and sexual health services?

Do you have the skills to lead a dynamic team and drive innovative service delivery, alongside experience in sexual and reproductive health?

Working closely alongside our 1800 My Options Manager, Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to lead our 1800 My Options team!

About WHV

WHV is a statewide, feminist, not-for-profit leading the pursuit of gender equity in health. We work with government, the health sector and the community to create better health outcomes for women (cis and trans inclusive) and gender diverse people.

WHV delivers vital support services to the community and empowering health information. We share evidence and recommendations to challenge bias in the health system. We build capacity in the health sector to achieve equitable health outcomes. We foster an environment of inclusion, innovation and respect.

WHV delivers 1800 My Options – Victoria’s only sexual and reproductive health information service.

About 1800 My Options

1800 My Options are a free and confidential phone line and online service, providing information about contraception, pregnancy options (including abortion) and sexual health. We work alongside hundreds of trusted healthcare providers in Victoria, to link individuals to the services that best suit their needs.

We’re proudly pro-choice, non-judgmental, woman-centred and independent.

About the role

The 1800 My Options Team Leader will oversee the day-to-day operations and service delivery of the team, ensuring the provision of high-quality and innovative sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and referral services.

This role involves supervising, motivating and supporting the team, overseeing service delivery, and building the capacity to respond to the demand for unique SRH services, particularly for priority populations.

Additionally, this role is responsible for supporting the 1800 My Options team to maintain compliance with organisational policies, legal and regulatory compliance, funding requirements and high-quality service standards.

A strong candidate will have a good understanding of the barriers to SRH care particularly as they impact underserved communities, and experience leading and supporting a high-functioning team within a service delivery environment. They will have experience in fostering internal and external relationships and the knowledge and skills to implement quality frameworks to maintain accurate documentation, information and services, with a keen eye for continuous improvement opportunities.

Amongst other selection criteria, as an ideal candidate, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification in public health, social science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum six years’ experience in service delivery within the health, community or not-for-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team, including fostering reflective practice and psychological safety within a client-facing service team.
  • Strong understanding of SRH policy, the social model of health, evidence, service delivery models and lived experience.
  • Experience in delivering non-judgmental, trauma-informed information across multiple service delivery platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to drive accessibility of evidence-based SRH resources and information.

If you want to be part of an organisation making a difference in leading the pursuit of gender equity in health, this could be the role for you!
