Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

 

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder affecting between 5–10% of women. Some women will not have any symptoms and are diagnosed with PCOS only when they have difficulties becoming pregnant. Other women may have signs and symptoms including:

  • infrequent periods and infertility
  • weight problems
  • excessive facial and/or body hair or hair loss
  • dizziness, exhaustion, depression
  • acne or skin pigmentation
  • high blood pressure
  • insulin resistance and diabetes
  • increased male hormones in the body.
