Hepatitis C

There are approximately 220 000 people in Australia living with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) and about one third of those are women. The blood borne virus has been identified as a major health concern for Australian women, with reports that for the first time, in 2001, the number of new HCV notifications among women aged 15-19 were higher than those for men of the same age.
