Body Image

 

Body Image refers to people’s perceptions, beliefs and feelings about how they look in comparison to how they would like to look, not only to themselves but also to other people.

We are constantly bombarded with messages about body image on the television, in magazines and newspapers, in public facilities (consider the individual space allocated on a train or tram) and in every day conversations. We often hear (and probably use) words like anorexia, obesity, diets, skinny, fat , pretty, ugly, too old etc. etc.

Our own body image is developed from how we come to understand our experience of the world.
