BreaCan - Gynaecological and Breast Cancer ResourcesBreaCan is an information and support service for people affected by gynaecological cancers or breast cancer, their families and friends. BreaCan offers a range of services and programs including a library, fortnightly information sessions, a ‘Feel Good’ gentle exercise program and services specific to the needs of women with advanced cancer.

The Resource Centre is staffed by trained volunteers who have either personally experienced breast cancer, or cared for someone who has. A BreaCan staff member works alongside volunteers, providing assistance, support, and debriefing. The women reflect on their own experiences and provide insight into how they have learnt to live with breast cancer. The DVD and accompanying booklet is the first of its kind in Australia. Making Connections - for women with advanced cancer The 'Making Connections' pilot project for women living with advanced breast cancer began in January 2005 and was evaluated in October 2005. Many women have accessed different parts of the program which include a mailing list, information sessions and the eight week co-facilitated 'Here and Now' program. Several 'Here and Now' programs have been conducted, one as a teleconference to enable rural women to participate. Women who have participated in these programs are continuing to connect with each other independently of BreaCan. The 'Making Connections' program will continue to run as an integrated part of BreaCan's service and will be further developed over time. If you would like to read the evaluation of the pilot period for the Making Connections program you can download it here . For further information or to receive a copy of the evaluation report of the 'Making Connections' program, please contact BreaCan by phone on 1300 781 500 or email.
BreaCan has information available on a range of support services for women with a gynaecological or breast cancer. For details, please contact BreaCan by phone on 1300 781 500 or email. Breast forms BreaCan has a display cabinet containing a wide variety of breast forms (prostheses), bras and accessories.
